What it takes
Our guiding principles
Integrity –We apply a set of principles to our decision making process. What is the best outcome for all parties in this situation? Honesty with everybody we come in contact with, honesty in all of our dealings and communications and most of all we are always honest with ourselves.
Respect – There is a common respect for all people including, but not limited to, our clients or our managers. Respect for all staff, vendors and their staff, franchise partners and all of their associates and family. Property of the client’s, vendors and of the company’s. Respect for the work that we do and the industry we have chosen to operate in. Most of all we respect your time.
Work Ethic – Hard work with a good attitude. Work in with an attitude of appreciation for the opportunity to apply our craft. Work done knowing that the quality of our job is our signature that we were here and we will be well represented long after we leave.
Enthusiasm – We are passionate about dealing with the daily challenges our business brings. We strive to transfer our enthusiasm to our clients and culminate their experience by exceeding their expectations. We strive daily to overcome the stigmatism our industry faces when people think of “contractors.”
Professionalism – The name says it all. “ShowerPro” is a name specifically chosen to signify we are the “pros.” We are the experts in the industry. We expect to convey this in all we do, including our work, communications and in every other action.
Persistence and Perseverance – This is a very demanding business and industry. Not only is the work difficult, but we are also faced with a lot of variables and new challenges everyday. We never, ever, give up!
Manners – Very simple. We always use please, thank you, yes ma’am and no sir. We always refer to the client as Mr. or Mrs., unless they request we use their first names.

Who We Are
When my wife and I first started the business, we weren't planning on making people cry, we were just trying to start a new business and make a little extra money. After about a year and half or so we were getting a bit frustrated with the day-to-day grind and not much was going well. Suddenly, things took a turn for the better. While I was doing a home show, a realtor visited my booth. We had done some small repair jobs for him before. He was going on and on about different properties and what it would cost to fix various things and then he asked me this question, "I have a tenant in one of my properties who can't get in and out of the bathtub anymore, the tub is fiberglass. Steve could you cut a section out of the tub and fix it up so he can get in and out?" I told him I would work on it. A short time later it hit me - what an excellent idea - cut down the bathtub and make it accessible for people. I went to a junk yard for construction supplies and bought a fiberglass bathtub, took it home, and went to work on it.
My wife's cousin and I built the first E\Z Step Bath to Shower Conversion. It was a bit crude but I was very excited with the prospects of the concept, so we refined it some more, designed a custom-built shower enclosure and took it to the very next home show. The response was terrific! We got several compliments and a number of leads from the show. This gave me the confidence to call my old customer back and tell him the good news, but when I contacted him, the response was very deflating. His tenant had fallen down getting out of the bathtub and had to move to an assisted care center.
At that point, we knew we had something out of the ordinary, it would not only be a great differentiating service but also something that would really make a big difference in peoples lives. It actually breathed life right into the company. Since then we have done several hundred conversions, and we've received all sorts of special compliments and very nice comments.
When our customer Mrs. Brown called a few weeks ago, it reinforced our belief in what we do. She called us up to schedule an E\Z Step for her mom and needed to get it done right away. She had to help her mom in and out of the tub every day, and it was very hard on both of them. Linda asked me to come over to see how soon we could complete the job. We are always booked for 2-3 weeks out and she was hoping to move the job up if at all possible. I noticed we had a scheduling change for the following Monday so if we hurried we could get everything ready to do the job. I had Linda call her back to see if that would work for her, and it was perfect. Linda put her in the book, and after she finished with the call she hung up the phone, looked straight at me and said, "She started to cry!"
Needless to say, we were touched by the emotion we generated. I was excited to do the follow up call on the job. A few days after Ron did the job I called Mrs. Brown. She was at work but I spoke with her mom and asked her how she liked her new shower. She loved it. I said, "Thank you very much. We just wanted to make sure everything was ok." The next day we had a very nice message from Mrs. Brown thanking us for everything and in the last sentence of her message she said, "If you ever need help selling an E\Z Step please don't hesitate to have them call me."
What We Do and Why
Over the course of the next 15 years ShowerPro will become the first nationwide chain of specialized bathroom remodeling centers. The chain will consist of 100 stores across America serving first and foremost middle class homeowners as their single source solutions for big or small jobs. The stores will be combination of a nice showroom featuring several of the most common jobs done and a well-organized office. The gross revenues from each store will average $85,000 per month, with 6-7 employees per store. The secret to our success will be the combination of motivated employees performing meaningful work, eager qualified suppliers providing approved materials and a bevy of both traditional and unique bathroom remodeling services.
Clients will be able to call their local store and have a uniformed, well-trained sales consultant come into their home and present all options available to them. The presentation will consist of a combination of a professional photo collection and detailed descriptions of the jobs. After the selection process takes place, uniformed employees in marked vehicles will return and provide the client with a clean, neat and swift job. Services will range from bathtub refinishing to complete bathroom renovations, but our claim to fame will be our E\Z Step Bath to Shower Conversions.
Our competitive edge will be a combination of "one call does it all" shopping and high-speed job completion. This will be possible by the use of a tightly controlled list of qualified suppliers providing approved materials in a timely manor. All jobs will be pooled and pre-constructed prior to delivery in order to eliminate common mistakes and missing items. When done properly, this creates an atmosphere of great satisfaction for both the employees and the clients. The client is so much happier dealing with one company, and when the job goes correctly it supports their decision to hire us and they feel smarter from their choice. When technical employees are able to concentrate their energy on the job at hand and work with the proper materials the morale is excellent. Employees will be neat, clean and very respectful to all clients, suppliers and each other. They will always leave the job site neat and cleaner than they found it. From the initial phone call to the delivery of the gift basket, the client will be impressed with everybody they come in contact with.
The marketing mix will be a powerful blend of seeking out our target markets, presenting the materials in a manner which appeals to their emotional preferences and an extremely professional solutions presentation. Consistent advertising in mass media mailers, attendance in quality home shows and the ultimate marketing vehicle, word of mouth, will create the market presence necessary to create a nationwide consensus that for bathroom remodeling work the only choice available is ShowerPro.
